Hanson Cup is back again this year for the annual 3 vs 3 Hockey Tournament to be held this March 12 – 13 at Perth Ice Arena.
Although postponed before because of the lockdown in WA, Hanson Cup is finally happening now. From the 16 teams last year, Hanson Cup 2021 will now be seeing 23 teams taking down the puck all the way down the ice and win in the 2nd annual cup.
Divided into a two-day tournament to accommodate the bigger number of teams, the tourney will consist of Recreation Division and an Elite Division capped at 12 teams each.
Recreation Division
The Recreation Division will witness a toe-to-toe match among 12 teams inclusive of best women and men, adults, and junior picks. Chiefs Ice Hockey Club, the host for the said cup, will be up against 11 more teams in this division named creatively as Very Aquatic, Furry Beavers, Not Fast Just Furious, 4 Buds 1 Puck, 3 and a Half Men, Slapshot, Brews Your Daddy, Mission Possible, Western Wanderers, No Regretzkys, Awesome Foursome, and Danger Noodles.
Elite Division
Also with 12 teams and four players each, the Elite Division, an exclusive all-male division, will be heating up the rink as JCKM, Guardians of the Gog, SPT, Gypsies, Red Deer Redemption, The Bricks, Supersonics, Yew Beauties, and Bravest of Hearts face each other to determine the victor and the hoser of the annual tournament. Mission Possible, the team also competing in the Recreation Division, will also be playing in the Elite Division against the said teams.
Afterparty, Munches, and more
The local BBQ celebrity Big Dons, joined by Plum’s Famous Wings, and Beer and Hockey, will be catering to the spectators throughout the sports event. There will also be a DJ spinning some beats at the Afterparty.
This year’s Hanson Cup is mainly sponsored by Street Roller Hockey League and Perth Summer League Ice Hockey.
